Great British Bake Off final watched by ‘biggest-ever’ audience

The Great British Bake Off enjoyed its biggest-ever audience on Channel 4, the broadcaster has said.

The show attracted a record average audience of 9.2 million viewers, a 39.7 per cent share of the audience and a 10.4 million peak on Tuesday night.

It makes it the baking competition’s biggest-ever overnight audience on Channel 4.

The broadcaster also said it was the highest rating Channel 4 show since modern records began in 2002.

The previous highest overnight rating of a Bake Off episode on Channel 4 was the 2017 final which attracted 7.7m viewers and a 34.6 per cent share of the viewing audience.

Peter Sawkins was named the youngest ever Bake Off champion in the Tuesday night final.
